my son is 6 months old and just started sleeping 11-12 hrs a night,he used to take 4 naps a day every 2 hours, now he is down to 3,or so i thought..he takes a good morning nap and a good afternoon nap,but by 6pm he is sooo fussy i know he is tired, but he fights me to take a nap...maybe he's just bored and im confusing it w/being sleepy, he eats his last bottle at 7pm and then bath and in bed by 8pm...id like to know other peoples nap schedules w/their little ones..i dont know how much he should be napping durring the day at 6 months,i dont want to force him to sleep if hes trying to get out of taking soo many naps...im confused w/what i should be doing for daytime naps..

I have a 20 month old daughter. At 6 months old is when she started sleeping through the night also. Here is what her schedule was...it seemed to work pretty well. It sorta depended on what time she woke up though.

6:30 wake up and nurse
7:00 breakfast
8:30 nurse to sleep
10:30 snack
12:00 lunch
2:00 nurse to sleep
4:00 snack
6:00 dinner
6:30 bath and wind down with story and dim lights in bedroom
7:00 nurse to sleep

I don't know how long your sons nap times are but for my daughter this schedule made a huge difference in her attitude. She was so much less grumpy all the time!

well on most days he is up between 5-7am,and back to sleep w/in an hr of eating, then another nap b4 lunch and one b4 dinner then 1 at around 5:30pm,but the past couple days he has had 2 good naps and a lil 30 min nap in the eve,,today he slept from 8pm lastnight til 8am this morn, then back to bed at 9:30am and slept til 1pm...so i am sure he will only take 1 more nap today...i just wasnt sure if at 6 months he should still be taking soo many naps...or if his clock is trying to get him into a 2 nap a day schedule and whats normal for 6 months,i dont want him to sleep too much a day and not sleep at night...getting him on a feeding schedule was fairly easy, but i been fighting to get him on a nap schedule for a while now. but yes i beleive he should be taking 2 long naps a day,yet some days he just cat naps here and there...wasnt sure if there is something i should be doing differently...im alil confused...

My son always took 2 naps a day. His afternoon nap was longer, usually 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Perhaps your son needs to go to bed earlier. I know a lot of babies that are in bed at 7:00-7:30.
