I had the same problem with my 5 mo old ... She would be in a deep sleep after nursing but as soon as I would put her in her bed and close the door she would wake up crying. What I finally started doing was choosing 2 times during the day when I was most tired (11 am and 4 pm) and laying down with her and snuggling. This way she gets her naps in for the day and I get a little rest ....

I had the same problem with my daughter Sophie. What I did was cut her down to 1 sleep a day at 12.30pm...Give Lilly her lunch & a bottle around 11.30am, have quiet play or watch some kids shows with her for 20 minutes or so. at 12.30 take her to her bedroom & lay her in her cot, try not to say anything other than goodnight or time for bed. If Lilly is old enough to get on her hands & knees or stand, stay in the room to lay her back down gently 15 times. After the 15 times or if she isn't old enough to do that yet, leave the room for at least 15 minutes (yes she will cry, maybe even scream). Try to stay out of the room for as long as you can, the longer you stay out the quicker your baby will learn. If after 15 minutes you want to go into your baby, do. But you must stay until she has fallen asleep, do NOT pat or talk to her, you can leave your hand on her belly. Be consistant & be strong, she will protest initally, but YOU will win the sleeping battle! (I did this with my daughter when she was 8 months old, within a week she was sleeping through the night & having one 3 hour sleep during the day!)

Sometimes babies just go through tough times. I know this sound horrible but my 2 year old still crys at bed and nap time but she falls asleep after a couple minutes. I have tried everything I could think of nothing worked. If she is still crying after a few minutes I go in and reassure her but never get her up unless she has a dirty diaper or something. Oddly enough she used to be a great napper too. She stoped going to bed well at about 6 months old. So that's what I did good luck and god bless.

has anything in Lilly or Bethany's life changed? Learned a new skill? Teething? Growth spurt?
Sometimes these things mess up their sleep schedules.
Just be consistent about putting them down to sleep at the same times, and eventually it'll settle out.
umm... maybe some extra snuggles when they're awake will help reassure them that even though things change, you're still there and love them. :)

My daughter is the same. Bethany use to go down at night no problem, now she screams and get herself all worked up. She is obviously tired but fights sleep. I thought that with her going down later that she would sleep longer in the morning, how wrong was i..... Lol. I don't know what i am doing wrong either. Would love if anyone had any advice.
