Hi Nicole This thread is old so I am going to lock it. If it is older then six months it is considered old. Thanks for your input though. :)

My daughter was sick every 3 to 4 weeks last year. I realized that it was ear infections never completely healing with the use of antibiotics. I told myself that I was going to do everything in my power to avoid tubes and invasive surgery. I have been researching natural remedies for ear infections for over a year and have written an article to help parents going through the same struggles. These are the steps I took to heal my daughters ear infections...

Yes, my boyfriends mother is allergic to Codine to. I'm allergic to citrus and feathers. Allergies can really pop up at any time over anything.

If your child is getting reoccuring ear infections, my mom used to put headbands on me to cover my ears so they wouldn't get cold. People always think Kids need jackets but they forget about the ears. My mom used to make me wear the headband, like a skiing one, but would let me decide if I needed the coat. I also had to stop the swimming classes I was in, because the water was going up my nose, and behind and into the inner ear canal? I think thats what it was.

So along with preventative measures, I didn't see another infection the entire time growing up once we did all this.

Good luck! :)

i am reluctant to go a natural therepy without knowing just how bad it is (i have had my son so ill with an ear infection after treament he still had gunk faling out if his ear for over 2 week, that i would never not seek advice even if just off the childhood nurse or pharmasist) once it has been assessed if you want to go natural just a warm compress and paracetomol and lots of fluid if there is a temp and be careful with co dine i have a child who is allergic, i never knew until he was 12, here in aus i had some painstop night time for my daughters broken arm, it worked a treat, but is a restricted med, as in you need to consult with the chemist to get does have co dine in it...

Hi, I don't have any natural remedies for ear infections but I do have some advice. I wouldn't stuff around too much trying to fix this problem yourself, take them to a doctor. Ear infections can turn bad very quickly and burst their ear drums. I had a lot of ear infections as a child and was in and out of hospital. The one thing that got drilled into me was to never put anything, except for prescribed drops or things like that into the ear. My ear drums burst a number of times and now I'm suffering from that as an adult. Get doctors advice for this one.

Ok. I don't have 'natural' but it was the best thing for us. I had ear infections SO bad when I was younger I got immuned to almost all drugs available until we were at horsepills that cost $180 a pop. Finally, someone told my mom to give me Dimatap with Codine (doesn't have it in it anymore) but the Codine helped take the pain away so I could heal myself

I didn't get them anymore and everything was fine

couple drops of sweet oil (found at most drug and natural food stores) in the ear works also.

Hi Samantha, using one of those softgels would be great. Are you still nursing by any chance? You could express a little breastmilk and with a dropper or even a q-tip you could put it in his/her ears.

Hope baby's better soon. I feel so bad for them when they are sick :(
