Need advice.... I'm obsessing over the pregnancy tests!

I have been tracking my ovulation by taking two tests a day and taking weekly pregnancy tests as well. A few days ago I got a positive ovulation test (on the cheapy test as well as the smiley face on the clearblue one). I also took my weekly pregnancy test that night a few hours later. The pregnancy tests shows a very very faint line, but it is there. I looked at all my previous pregnancy tests and there isn't even a faint line, so it's not an evaporation line or anything. I took another pregnancy test today and it was an even fainter line. A couple hours later I took another, I couldn't see a line, I took another 2 more hours later, couldn't see a line then either. I just took a clearblue digital test and it said "not pregnant". I know that a positive ovulation test can also be a very early sign of pregnancy before a pregnancy test can show positive, but I am a couple days late for my period... Any suggestions? I'm going crazy obsessing over the tests... We have been trying so long that I want it so bad so it's so hard waiting...

Hi, please give yourself permission to be eager and excited. AND, take this opportunity to think about the kind of role model you wish to be. Do you want to be excited and in control...do you want to take life's events in stride in a thoughtful patient manner? If you are pregnant, and you are "obsessing" think of the energy your whole body and fetus may be receiving. Calm your mind and body with other activities that will generate positive, relaxing energy. Enrich your soul with things that will be good for your mind and body whether you are pregnant at this time or next. Mindfully change the channel in your brain and take a long walk, bake something healthy that smells good, sew something, seek out new music, make a card for your partner, buy or make a gift for someone you love.
Good luck to you, and breathe deeply! Really!

You should always test first thing in the morning, that when the hormone levels are most concentrated. I would stop testing throughout the day because you really are just wasting money. Wait until the morning.

The more you stress and worry the harder it is on your body. I can understand that you really want a baby. The more you stress and worry about it the higher chance you might be late or miss a period. I can understand how badly you want a child, but remember that the more stress you put on your body the harder it will be to get pregnant. I wish you luck. I really hope you get the chance to enjoy the love of a child. I also agree with Anne Riley. If you can not have your own for some reason, remember that there are a lot of children in the world that would give anything for a family that would love.

I have to agree with Sofia here. For people who don't fully understand ovulation or have bodies that don't really follow the typical rules try this-

2 days after your period have sex every 2 days. Why every 2? Because this helps the males sperm count from dropping too low. On top of that sperm stays alive in your body for 24 hours, no real need to add more right away. If you do this for 2 weeks you have covered your bases. I'm sure hubby is no going to complain.

And for those who don't know, they have proven dollar store pregnancy test work just as well as name brands.-- http://www.abc15.com/dpp/money/personal_...

I always felt a little different before I got any test results. When I got pregnant I looked a little thinner, my boobs were sore, I was fatigued. How do you feel? any different?

You really do need to relax...take a deep breath! It will happen when the time is right. And the stress isn't going to make anything better! I know what it is like to want a baby soo badly, and you think every month this is going to be it. But i found that when i stopped worrying about it, and just let things happen when they were ready to, they did. I now have 3 beautiful little girls, ages 5, 2 1/2, 1, and one on the way! Try and keep your self occupied with something else for a while.

Um, yeah... RELAX! For the best results you should take a pregnancy test First thing in the morning when you wake up. It will have the most concentrated levels. Again, RELAX!

Clearblue was the only test that ever gave me a positive result. The digital ones are normally right on the money. I would stop stressing so much as that will cause you to be late for your period. My husband and I finally got pregnant the first time around when we stopped trying and stressing over the test and trying to plan everything. The only "planning" we did was track my cycle on mymonthlycycles.com. It helps you track the pattern of your cycle and tells you when your best chances to get pregnant are. If you still don't have a cycle in a week I would go see your doctor for a check up. Best of luck

The more stress, the more worry. I would stop taking pregnancy tests and consult your doctor for final results. I understand if you are wanting to have a baby, but your body can't handle the stress that you are under. If you are unable to have children of your own, there are thousands of children that would give anything to be adopted because the parents either abandoned or threw them away. I have seen documentary of where children are thrown in outhouse pits to being left out in the wild for the animals. True, I know you crave to have your own child, to go through the process and trust me it's an overwhelming experience that is forgotten when you hold your new bundle of joy. I am a mother of 4 and I know, I have had moments where I wanted another newborn but I am grateful for the kids that I do have. So even if you can't have one of your own, remember there are children who would give anything for a loving family. God bless and Good luck.

Have you ever thought about adoption? There are so many babies out there that need a loving home...

I think you should first relax. Sometimes when we desperately go behind some thing it has a way to run away from us. I too had a time when after the first child i had to wait 7 years before i had the second one. My life was very busy and full of stress. So had to let go of my full time job and work for part time which meant lesser traveling and though lesser pay too but it was worth it when God blessed me with a healthy baby. Then i had to go to a gynecologist and she planned everything out for me. Lot of organization, patience, trust and faith it worked out the first time itself. I suffered from hypothyroidism and had endometrial polyps, treatment for which i was taking. Already I had to get rid of the polyps via surgery after which i had to wait for 6 months for artificial insemination. Good quality sperm was taken from my husband by lab method, I did not know this before my gyn told me, but the quality sperm is also important. I would advice you to go to a gyne and get proper advice and guidance. Best of luck for your pregnancy!

Take a test first thing in the morning the first time you use the bathroom. It will give the most accurate result. I was a couple days late and it said not pregnant two days later it said pregnant. Wait a few days and take it again and then go see a doctor,

I took 2 pregnancy tests that were supposed to give you the earliest indication and they both were negative...a week later I went into the doctor's and got the test and it was positive. Don't trust pregnancy tests...if you think you're pregnant just go see your doctor and they can take an accurate test. No need to spend a bunch of money taking 50 prego tests haha

All of the precious comments offer great advice, the most important of which is to relax! Stressing over this isn't going to help your situation at all. Remember stress affects hormone levels and can interfere with the arrival of your period. Take a week off from the daily test, and rest and relax your body. When and if your period is 2-3 weeks late, then do a pregnancy test at your doctors office to confirm your suspicions. Otherwise, have you ever heard the expression, a watched pot never boils? This is an exciting moment, but let it be exciting and stress free. Good luck to you!

I agree. Your OB/GYN will let you know for sure and take the stress out of guessing. Good luck, dear.

the best form of contraception is stress,if you could put the money your spending on tests towards something nice for yourself and your partner, put all that energy into something you would enjoy, try to forget about getting pregnant and you might be surprised at the outcome, best of luck to both of you

Quit taking so many test. The level of hormones in your body will be highest first thing in the morning. As the day goes on it gets a bit weaker. Take one in the morning first thing and go by that. If you still are stressing go to the doctor and get the test done, for what you have spent on the home test you have more then paid for the visit even without insurance. Stress can give false test results and can interfer with becoming preg. in the first place. Calm down and tke a deep breath then make that doctor appointment. Make sure you and your husband attend for the news, if it is positive you will be so excited and overwhelmed you should share that moment, if you are not you will need his love and support as you set your mind to keep trying.

Just read through my last post and it didnt make much sense to me so i imagine it probably doesnt make much sense to you lol. A simpler way of explaining it is --- count 14 days from the day you START your period. That is the time you should be ovulating and the most appropriate time to perform your method of conception (i would say 'have sex' but this is not always the chosen method of conception). After this, wait 10 - 14 days to take pregnancy test. NO TEST will determine on the same day of conception that you are pregnant, it is a minimum of a week, and even that is pushing the boundary. I know its hard, but try to take your mind off it. I was the same for over a year, and whether you chose to believe it or not, one day I got so sick of waiting and trying that I 'gave up', so to speak. That exact month, I became pregnant. All the best x

I'm not entirely sure I understand your post lol. Why would you be taking ovulation tests AND pregnancy tests on the same day? It takes a week MINIMUM for even the most advanced pregnancy tests to reveal a 'positive' for pregancy after conception. Before then, there is not enough of the pregnancy hormone in your system to register on a pregnancy test. I know this because, like you, I once was also desperate to have children and was taking every test possible and couldnt figure out where I was going wrong. On average women are most likely to conceive 14 days after the FIRST day of their period. This 14th day is in the small time frame that a woman ovulates (which is usually around the 13th - 16th day) - occasionally, the time that a woman ovulates can vary, hence the ovulation tests being made available for us to define when we are, as it may sometimes be earlier or later. It is safest to count another 14 days (2 weeks) from your ovulation date for the clearest result on a pregnancy test, though there are pregnancy tests that can give you an accurate result after about 9 - 10 days. Taking an ovulation and pregnancy test on the same day, and weekly, is a waste of your time and money. There is no pregnancy test effective enough that will tell you the SAME day you have conceived that you are pregnant. I know how horrible it is waiting, but unfortunately thats the way it is for all of us. Been there, and yes it is a trying time, but after I got all the facts in place, I was a lot calmer, more relaxed, less obsessed and lot less stressed out all the time. Hope this info has helped x

I read that you're cooling down on your obsession, but I thought I'd tell you that I had taken 3 tests and they were all negative. It wasn't until I got a blood test was the result positive. I went in at 8am that morning and by that evening my Doctor had called to tell me that I was pregnant. And it's the least expensive option. :-) Good luck!!

LOL I am starting to cool down on my obsession. I was just so happy to see that faint line that I got ahead of myself... I will keep updating.

It is YOUR morning. The hormone gets more concentrated in your urine the longer it is since you have gone to the bathroom. It is suggested that you take one when you wake up because most people sleep anywhere from 4-8 hours without getting up. LOL try waiting that long during the day before you use the restroom... it is almost impossible. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I took another test as soon as I woke up today. One of the cheapy ones. The line is almost so faint that you maybe can't tell unless you know it was there before?

When I was pregnant with my daughter (she is now 4 years old), My friend told me to take a test as she thought I was pregnant. I had no thought that I was. I took a test it was so faint of a line nobody believed it was positive. I went to the doctor who said that I was about 1 week along. She said that is extremely rare to find out that soon! On a cheapy test even! I am thinking maybe I was so spoiled knowing so fast last time that I am going crazy having to wait.

It's your sleep cycle. After you have been asleep (and not going to the toilet or drinking too much) then test as soon as you wake up.

I got those ones from the internet that cost like 10 cents each and I buy them in a huge bundle. I know it's still money, but I am just hoping for that clear answer on the test. I am a night owl. I usually go to sleep around 4am-5am and wake up around 1pm. I know the hormone levels are most concentrated in the morning, but does that mean the actual morning, or the individual person's morning? I have heard somewhere that it has to do with daylight and the sun and something like that or does it depend on when your sleeping cycle is?
