Title pretty much says it all: My last period was on Aug. 4th 2009. It was normal ( I think) but I havent had one since. I've taken about 7 pregnancy tests including one blood test and all were neg. I just took one on monday and still neg. My boobs are sore, but that's the only other pregnancy symptom. I get lower back pain and lower abdominle pain too. i've been to the dr. and he said to come back at the end of Oct. if I still havent started. He said it's not a big deal until I've missed 3 or more. Oct. 19th should be when I start (of course, by now my counting could by way off!) so if I dont start by then I'm going to call. Has anyone else had this problem? I dont even have spotting, just alot of discharge. Thanks in advance!

After I had my son, I had a normal period after about 2 months and then didn't have one for 6 months. My doctor said it was normal, but did perscribe some hormones to get it going. It did, but it came every 2 months instead of every month. It sucks if your trying to get preggies again, but your period will come back at some point.

I think i've started my pd now. But my lower back hurts so bad. Plus, my stomach aches quite a bit. Do you think I should still see the dr? I'm not sure if I hurt so much because it's been a while. Thanks again!

make sure its not your thyroid ,i know someone who had this turns out that was caused hers ,i also have a cousin who had paps come back as normal yet she was treated 13 yrs ago for ovarian cancer they found while she was pregnant .so now you know not to go with just pap-test ask for the others as well your ob gyn will know what you saying if they are any good.

PS my daughter who felt sick like flu was found to have a cyst at 12 yet no period her rpa found it in a pee test so gave her med .she is OK now.

I agree that you should check out PCOS. I was diagnosed 10 years ago and had many of the same symptoms you do. I had very heavy periods since I started menstrating, hair loss since the age of 13, during periods I would get very sick and have very strong cramps. The doc can check the your blood work and see if you have PCOS. If that is the case, I would look into seeing an endocronologist (sp?). Wishing you luck!!

Kimberly,

I'm so glad to hear everything is ok now! I had a normal blood workup done last month, but I"m not sure what exactly they checked. I had some heavy spotting today (once I spotted, actually) and I thought that I was gonna start. Now I'm not so sure.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! I'm very grateful that you all could take a few minutes out of your very buys schedules to help me! I'm glad I joined the circle of moms!

I would defiantly have your hormones checked. When i had mine checked my prolatin level was high and i was diagnosed with a brain tumor an my pituitary gland. the surgery although painful and horrifying was a success and i am fine now but it started with alot of the same symptoms.Good Luck

Thank you everyone, you've been very helpful. I'm definatly going to bring up all the possiblities to my dr. I feel like I'm gaining weight, my pants are fitting more snug than normal. My hair has always been falling out, so I'm not sure if I can count that! I do get pain in the groin, and stomach/ lower back pains after sex. I've told my dr. about the last part. Would a tubal show up with pregnancy tests? Just wondering. I'm kindof surprised he didnt look into it yet, but I know he's got a lot of patients. But as I said, I'm going to call monday if I havent started yet. Thanks again everyone!

I recently started another thread on this (similar) topic-I had my tubes tied in December '05 and just had a tubal pregnancy, had surgery two days ago. Seems like the doctor would do an ultrasound just to be sure. I didn't have pain or any other problems, just missed period and sore boobs. If a tubal pregnancy goes too long, can rupture your tube and cause internal bleeding, very dangerous. Well I hope you find out real soon what is going on. Good luck to you!

I had similiar issues because of a hormonal imbalance (although they also checked for cysts but didn't find any). They recommended progesterone therapy but I decided to wait out the problem without drugs because I was/am trying to get pregnant. I finally got my period after almost 4 months.

My periods are extremely irregular. After many doctors visits I was finally diagnosed with PCOS. You didn't mention if you had any other symptoms. PCOS can cause any or just a few of some of the following - irregular or lack of a period, hair loss, or hair growth (face, neck, etc), weight gain. It goes hand in hand with insulin resistance. Not sure if any of those apply. It just took so long for me to be diagnosed and the only symptom I started with was irregular menstrual cycles.

Sounds familar! I have endometriosis and it took 4 years for the doctors to figure it out. I had alot of lower back ache, no periods, severe headaches, my boobs felt like they did when I was breast feeding. Its a hormone imbalance and its not easily treated. Ask your doctor about it.

Sorry, forgot to add that I had a tubal done in Nov 2007! They were cut and burned, not getting preggo! I've always been under stress and never EVER been late. My cycle is usually 25days from start to start. Even with my husband being in the Navy and being gone, us moving, having kids, I've never been off schedule! That's why I'm so confused! I know I'm not pregnant, just dont know what else it could be. Thanks for the advice girls, I really appreciate it!

It could be stress. My friend used to do this all the time! Miss periods and think she was pregnant and take a million and one tests. Then inevitably it would come. It was like her mind was making up the pregnancy because she thought so hard she was and really did want to be.

Blood tests are pretty accurate. They can detect a pregnancy 10 days after conception.

when was the blood test it could have been to early. after my daughter i had irregular periods and thought i was prego in nov took a test it was neg then in dec it was poss but when i had an ultra sound it said i wasnt as far along a my missed period said i was (know i had mine on halloween and i should have been 9 weeks and a couple of days when i had an ultrasound but they said i was 7 weeks and 2 days) so if your blood test was right after you missed your first one maybe it was too early
