I need some serious help!!! My 17 month old refuses to take her 2nd nap now! I'm assuming she's ready to drop a nap and move to a 1 nap a day, but it's not possible due to her super early morning wake up. She's been waking up at 5:30am since she was 15 months. I've tried everything to get her to wake up later! I mean everything! Early bedtime, later bedtime, consistent nap and bedtime routine, gosh everything you can think of I've tried and she will not wake up later! I feel like I can't move her up to a 1 nap a day until she starts waking up later. Someone with sleep experience please help :-((.
This is her schedule now
Wake 5:30am
1st Nap 9-10:30am (1hr 1/2)
2nd Nap 3-4pm (1hr)
Bedtime 8pm

Thank you so much! Getting her tired after her morning nap defiantly helped! :-) I plan after noon activities and by the time 2pm rolls around she's ready to go down and doesn't fight her nap anymore! I also shorten her morning nap to just 1 hr, but the problem now is I can't get her to wake up later. Everyday is 5:30am wake up :-(( any advice on that??

Thank you for the feedback and advice! I tried shortening the afternoon nap and she continues to wake up at 5:30 :-( I've tried almost everything! Her schedule now is
Wake 5:30
1st Nap 9-10am
2nd Nap 2:30-3:30
Bedtime 7:30

You know, cutting that second nap may just make that nighttime sleep longer. What you need to do is start trying to drag that first nap out to a little later (which may make it a bit longer), and start cutting back the second one.

Oh, I just saw your schedule. Your baby is not sleeping enough at night. Looks like the second nap could be changed a bit and maybe shortened. Instead of 3-4 maybe 2:30-3 or 3:30.
Children that age usually need about 11hours sleep at night too and 2 hours nap give or take. I learned that in child education training.

Hello, Sorry. Every time I wanted my baby to do something on schedule I changed our schedule with activities or play etc. When babies are tired or hungry it is the time you can change their schedule or habits. When you want your baby to nap take her for a walk before. Or better yet let her walk. Feed her then run with her in the park. Let her chase birds. That's what I did and it worked. Remember to do it so that it doesn't affect the second nap. If you think it will then wear her out again ie rolling on the floor or dancing to a video etc.
Good luck!
