any tips for a baby who has a stuffy/runny nose but has a MELTDOWN when i use the bulb syringe?? this is his first cold, its not too bad, no fever yet just one heck of a runny nose and a cough. His little nose gets all stuffed so he has trouble eating but when i use the sucker to get the boogies out he just skips the crying part and heads straight to the screaming.... advise? anything....(he's 5 1/2 months btw)

My son was the same way with the boogy sucker at that age. I would take a hot shower and put him in his seat or something in the bathroom with me...strapped in of course. It helps some. I also used a vaporizer in the main part of the house he was in most of the day. And i let him smell vicks. Someone once told me to lay him in front of a mirror when using the boogy sucker so he could see what i was doing and it would help. But i never tried it. Also, a bath works great. Let him splash around and get water in his face...some always goes up their nose and they sneeze and the boogys come right out.

Time to sit in the steamy bathroom. Close the door and turn on the shower to all hot water. The more steam the better. He'll be breathing better in no time. l stay in with my baby to make sure it doesn't get too hot and humid for him. l wrapp my baby in a towel when l bring him out so he doesnt' get chilled. After he's back to regular room temp. l change his clothes.
