Need to lose weight!

In the last 3 or 4months i have gained 15kgs.
I feel disgusted at myself.
Im a sahm of 3 under 5, and i guess i just put everyones needs and wants before mine. My partner and i take the kids for daily walks to the park or local shops (unless its raining ofcourse!)
I know i eat more calories then what i burn off.
I feel its more of an emotional overeating thing.
Alot has happened to me in the past year or so.

What is the best way to stop overeating?

Here is what has helped me:

*write down everything you eat (including amounts) and give it to someone. Knowing that someone elso will know exactly what you've eaten sure does make you think, before putting something in your mouth.

*Don't allow junk food in your house. If it's there, you will eat it, and probably alot of it.

*No food is off limits. If you are out of the house and everyone else is eating a cookie, have one too. If you don't, you will feel deprived, and the second people aren't looking, you will probably eat 3 or 4, instead of just the 1 you would have had, had you eaten with everyone else.

*Add a vegetable salad to every lunch and dinner, as long as you don't drown it in a ton of dressing. This will help you fill up, with sticking to the right portions you should have of everything else.

*When you get groceries, buy lots of fresh veggies. When you get home, instead of putting them away, wash, cut, and put them in snack size bags, so you always have a low calorie snack ready anytime you want. When buying other snacks, buy things with high fiber or protein. Those will help fill you up more. Some of my favorites are the Dannon Greek yogurt, and the Fiber One 90 calorie chewy bars (chocolate peanut butter mmmmmmmmmmm)

*Eat smaller meals, and have three snacks a day inbetween the meals. This will help regulate your blood sugar and ward off those sudden drops that leave you feeling like you are starving.

*put a time limit (not weight limit) on the diet. If you tell yourself, that you are only dieting during the week, but can eat what ever and how ever much you want on Sat, it's a lot easier to deal with. Since I've done this, I find that even on my "cheat day" I don't really want a whole lot extra, and I'm not really craving the junk food either. The only draw back to this, is that you may gain a 1 or so on this day, but because you will probably lose 2-3 during the rest of the week, that one pound won't really mean that much.

*Lastly, if you are ever hungry and it "isn't time to eat", don't ignore it. Grab and extra healthy snack. The 120 or less calories you eat then will save you the extra 500 you will be tempted to eat the next meal if you don't eat something.

All of this helped me lose 45lbs (without exercise). I did gain some back over the holidays, because I completely got off track, but the last week and a half, I've started again, and have lost 3 lbs. I don't ever feel like I'm starving, and I have a ton more energy. Good luck!!!

on the healthier eating part, I have a friend who would make her a vegetable soup or salad for lunch--a large batch every couple of days. Having it already prepared in the fridge made it less likely for her to eat chicken nuggets and what not with her kids and having something in your fridge that you can eat--and as much as you want--is satisfying. You can also give yourself a small treat every night so you don't feel deprived but you're in control: like a square of chocolate or a handful of trail mix etc.

Your body gave you three kids in five years. It's been through a lot and it's natural to gain weight after motherhood. Focus on limiting junk food and on what your body can do that makes you happy: riding a bike, running, being able to walk up stairs and lift your kids without panting and so on but don't stress about your weight or size. :D I know i'm way late in responding to your weight loss need, although as I learned myself it's never to late or rather better late than never.

I was reading your post. I found out about this amazing shake diet through my personal trainer who is a friend of mine. Take a look at Body by Vi (svalderrama.myvi.net) He got me on the transformation kit and I love it because it is so easy and efficient. It's a Protien shake that tastes like cake mix and you can make any, literally any flavor smoothies you want.

One for breakfast and one for lunch and then a nice sensible dinner, along with wise choice snacks in between if needed they also give you a metabolism booster and a hunger control thing to help. If you don't normally exercise at all start with a walk and just push yourself to walk a little farther everyday, if you do exercise just continue with your routine.

I lost 13 lbs in my first month and I had been stuck @ 150lbs for 3 years originally I was 185 after the birth of my baby, i started to exercise and got down to 160 joined Jenny crags for 2 years and got down to 150 (10 bs only) and have been stuck there until last month. I literally tried every diet and weightless company out there and gave up. Until he told me about this over a month ago. Of course I blew it all in one weeks worth of a vacation to Jamaica but I started over again this past Tuesday, it has been a slight challenge this time around but so far 3 lbs down. it looks pricey but I calculated it and it turns out to $8.00 a day beats all the fast food prices I was paying. :D wishing you the best of luck. Eat more fiber and add weight resistance by using weights or stretch bands. the more muscle you add the faster the fat will come off. Fiber is extremely important and will also keep you fuller and healthier. Need more info just message me.

I know the feeling i am 103kg or wait for 226lb - hmmmmm i know i snack with the kids, i know i feel my hubbys stress and munch on it, i dont but take away i home cook all our meals, with little fat, lots of rice, vegies fruit meat really healthy stuff - i know it is the snacking and the sugar, but i am graduly losiong a 2kg a month or 5lbs, i know my belly is big and round but i love my legs i have great legs. This is my life and i kow it and i am comfortable with it, not estaically happy with it, but i will eventually lose my wieght and be ok with self while doing it. I know i will never see 60kg or 130lbs again but i am happy with that.
What i am trying to say is be happy withourself dont beat yourself up becuase you wont lose it , and if you have a bad week well everyone does, and no matter what we are our kids love us, and even our hubbys or partners do to.

my daughter just turned 2 back on the 10th and 16 months ago i was weighing in at almost 170 (77kg) and today i am 116 (52kg). I pumped to bottle feed my then 8 mo old and dried up, but didn't quit eating the 3,000 cals a day that was maintaining the breast milk production. i only weighted 161 (73kg) the day my labor was induced, so when i weighted more 8 months later, i freaked out. i wrote down everything i ate for what was supposed to be a week, but was so disgusted by how much junk i ate after 2 days, i stopped writing and immediately got rid of all empty calorie foods in the house and started snacking on high fiber, high good fat and whole grain foods like veggies, fruits, nuts, fiber granola bars, cheese, crackers, plain pasta, plain rice, rice cakes etc... i also stopped eating when my daughter ate. i only allowed myself to eat when she was napping. i didn't eat in front of tv, i usually sat at the kitchen counter, sometimes reading, and only gave myself 15-20 minutes. we ate dinner as a family when my husband got home, i just watched my portions. i never tried any of the fad diets, because when you deny yourself an entire food group (like carbs), you won't get all the essential stuff your body needs to properly function and you start to feel like crap and that's where the overeating and cravings and bingeing starts. i'm a pastry chef, if i wanted a cookie, i had a cookie, but just one or two, not an entire dozen. i mall walked 2-5 miles a day with my friends until if was nice enough out the be outside. my daughter started walking (running, climbing, being naughty) at 8 months too, so having to chase her helped with the "no time to exercise". chasing a child is exercising. you definitely have to stop beating yourself up. the fact that you know your food issue is a huge first step. forcing yourself to write down what your about to eat first will make u more conscience of what u eat when and how you are feeling at the time.

Well first of all stop beating yourself up. Instead of eating junk try snacking on fruits and veggies. Going for walks is a great idea. I have found the more I stress about my weight the more I can't lose it. I am still trying to lose weight from my 2yo. I have a good 12 pounds to lose and it's making me crazy!!!!! I just can't lose it to save my life. I don't walk though.....I should probably start, it's just been so cold here. So maybe aerobics? I have a lot of DVD's I just need to use them lol. You'll lose it, just be patient.
