OK So I know I can't be alone feeling like everything is on the weight of my shoulders. When one of the kids get sick (which has been on going since mid December) a part of me feels like I'm doing something wrong. Maybe I don't dress them well enough or they don't get enough vitamins..or whatever..If everything isn't perfect all the time, I feel like I should be doing more. It's hard as SAHM, at times I wonder if going back to work would be easier (My friend just went back full time and I'm a little envious of her)...I don't know....

After working full-time when my first two were little, and then part-time with #3, then taking almost 2 years off completely after #4, and now working one day a week, I can tell you that no matter what, Moms will feel guilty, or that they should be doing more. OK, I guess some Moms may not be like that, but I think a lot of us just always keep pushing ourselves to get everything just right. Its not just about work either; its about things like "how much responsiblity should they have for helping out?, not to make them lazy by doing everything for them, but not to rob them of their youth by putting too much on them". Being a stay-at-home mom is great, but it is not always easy, for anyone. But, there is always time later to go back to work, you can never get these years back with little ones. Right now it would probably be so hard to find a decent job anyway, and there are so many folks out there who need the work so desperately, would that also make you feel guilty if you did take a job and you don't financially have to work? I'm not trying to make you feel bad, just hoping to make this choice easier for you. As far as the sickness part, my youngest can go for several days without going anywhere, and one trip to the grocery store will result in a cold a day or two later. I breasfed her for 15 months, and then later on when she kept getting sick, the doctor actually told me that she never developed much of an immune system because she depended on mine for so long!! In other words, ya think you're doing the absolute best thing for them, and it still doesn't turn out to be perfect. Take it easy on yourself, try to relax and enjoy one day at a time, and say a prayer that all will be well! That is all that any of us can do.

I agree not to be so hard on yourself! Getting sick is a natural part of life & helps to build the immune system. Handwashing, a good diet, vitamins & herbs are your best course of action! Hang in there & if you do decide to go back to work...that is okay, too. Being a SAHM is not for everyone.

Dont be so hard on yourself. Sounds like you are an awesome mom! Kids get sick all the time especially in winter months! Just keep doing what you have been but dont think you aren't doing good! Good Luck.

You are doing just fine! Kids are going to get sick no matter what you do, especially during the winter and even more when they are around other children. It's hard not to beat ourselves up though when things don't seem to go just right. The best thing to do is to give them vitamins and to wash their hands often. Other than that, they are building their immune systems and sometimes getting sick will only help them later on in life. Hang in there!
