Kids need daddy time. Schedule daily daddy activities that he can do, even if its just him being responsible for bathtime or getting your child ready for bed. Remind him that your child has two parents, not just one.

I am having the same problem too. He tells me hes afraid he will hurt him. I try to reassure him that it is ok and he is not as fragile as he thinks. He still is a little worried, but I have left him with our son a couple times by himself and it seemed to leave him with a little more confidence

Laura,

I am in the same boat. My spouse tells me "it is going to take him time to adjust" we have an 11 month old - how much adjusting time does one person need??? We recently started seeing a marriage counselor to help defuse the situation. I am very angry because he doesn't see the obvious things. It is helping. I have learned to be more patient with him and trying to encourage a relationship with his son and not force it. I know that he loves his son but he is afraid that he will do something wrong. So maybe you should confront his fears.

Have you tried to be encouraging instead of demanding? It the easiest sometimes to just demand that they do things but sometimes if they are made to feel like your rescuer they are more apt to do things for you. I've found it's much more affective if you shower them with thanks even for the littlest things they do...kill 'em with kindness! It is definately hard sometimes but give it a try and see if you notice a difference..what do you have to lose! Blessings!
