When my son was 8 weeks old I stop breastfeeding and still didnt have a normal period. I went to the gynea and he said it could take up too 9 months before I had a normal period, but if I really didnt want too wait I should just start using my contraceptive patch (Evra) so that it will start. So I did, but I kept on getting headaches and lumps in my breasts, about a month ago I decided that once my period stopped Im not going back on it again. My problem now is that since then I havent started my period again, does it take longer than usual after leaving contraceptives too start your period again!?

I hope so because we cant afford another baby just yet, and I have 2 driving me crazy now!

We use birthcontrol, we use condoms and as far as we know none of them broke, they are usually checked. I had a little bit of a hormonal imbalance about 2 months ago and after that on the patch I had another period but now that im of it just wont start its been about 1 and 1/2 weeks now!

i agree that you should get a test done just in case and if neg you should get another one in a few weeks just to make sure. try not to stress about it cause too much stress can cause your period to delay. birth control messes with the body's natural cycles so it could just be a hormone confusion cause it wasnt ready to cycle and your bc caused it to cycle so hopefully your body will regulate after not being hormonally induced to cycle. you can always ask your dr or pharmacist but take a test to ease your mind. in the mean time i do recommend using some sort of contraceptive if you dont want to get pregnant.

Hun your swollen breasts and missing period suggests you should pop down to the shops and get yourself a preg test, I think u might be pregnant! Some women are just very fertile, I would love to be in your shoes :)

If you think there is any possibility you think you could be prego, you need to get a test done just to make sure. I know when I was on the pill, my periods were all messed up, all because I missed one pill, one time. It took me a couple months to get back to normal. I would check with the doc just to make sure.

Well I was on the pill from the age of 13 years old for PCOS and when I came off it my periods didn't return. I had to have a hsg to check if my tubes were blocked but they had to induce a period with medication. I got pregnant after this period. They didn't know whether I was ovulating and just not having a period but I obviously wasn't. So after 15 months of no periods I finally became pregnant. When you come off any contraceptive pill it can take up to a year for your periods to return usually, on the depo shot it can take a couple of month and with the implant it should return straight away. I'm not familiar with the patch as in the UK you can't get it.
