Hi my son is 3 years old but refuses to sleep at night and when it comes time for school he does not want to go. I'm a single mother and I'm having a hard time staying awake at work because of his non sleeping behavior. I honestly am reliant of my current job in order to take care of him. Please someone give me some advice on what I can do to stop this routine of his. I'm desperate for a solution. Is there some kind of remedy I can give him so he sleeps? I'm against using meds but if I have to I will do it

Sometimes I have the same problem with my three year old. I try to have an active day with him, however in the winter this is very hard. Some days he is so restless I have to break down and take him to the McDonald's play place so he can get some energy out with other kids. He is not in preschool until September, so we have a long day together. He wakes up most night around 12 or 1 AM wanting juice or food or to watch a show and refuses to go back to bed as well. We give him pediasure after dinner so he doesn't wake up hungry. The thing that helps me most (and I honestly don't know what your situation is but) we go to the high school pool for open swim, which is from 7-9 pm. So we swim from 7 to 8 and then he is so tuckered out he sleeps nearly the whole night through. Other nights he takes a hot bath and we read stories until he is too tired to go on, sometimes until 9 pm. This helps, because then we have a routine and he's ready for bed. The only problem I still have is figuring out how to get him BACK to bed if/when he wakes up. The things that work best for my three year old is making sure he's full before bed and being active.
