Is he having a hard time chewing or does it seem to be a texture problem? Sometimes kids can have sensory aversions to foods as well as other items such as scratchy clothing or tags. My daughter refuses to eat anything until it is at least cooled to room temperature. Your pediatrician can help you figure out what is causing his issues and refer you to the appropriate folks to help your little guy. I don't know where you are, but here in St. Louis, there is even a therapy office that deals in feeding issues. Figuring out the cause can help you make the adjustments he needs to be successfull in fully joining you for shared meals. Best of luck!

Does he eat lumps if you give him baby food? If so then he should eat your meals perhaps make your own food and blitz to a puree take him right back to scratch and gradually make the meals lumpier to he adjusts slowly and is less likely to choke. Try and disguise the healthy stuff I have to do that with my 3y/o she won't eat it if she can see it so onions and mushrooms etc are cut up majorly small lol because she's that bit older I find bribery does the trick too :)
