oh, come to ours. I live in Riverview, and last year I took over the little playgroup at the Riverview Neighbourhood House on Old Ipswich Road, just down from the primary school. It's a small group with lots of toys, etc inside a large area, and a council park-type playground outside, that's fenced off.

We have mums and kids from here, and collingwood park, and goodna. Numbers change week to week, with different commitments, but I'm there each week.

9.30 - 11.30am Wednesdays. We have 2 more wednesdays to go and then we're finishing up as I'm having a baby on the 3rd December. The group does not operate during holidays because we just get too many older kids wandering in looking for something to do and it's not thatkind of group, it's for under 4's WITH their parents. We'll start back on the 23rd Jan.

It's not part of playgroup queensland, it's just a community group, with a gold coin voluntary donation each week. We sit and have a cuppa and chat and the kiddos play. A little boy around your son's age has just started coming with his mum last week, actually.

I also go to a playgroup in Ipswich on a Tuesday 9-11am at Ipswich Central Church which is huge with HEAPS of mums and kids. It finishes up on the 4dec and starts back end of Jan, I think. It's much more structured. It's in their huge auditorium. It's $2 per child or $3 for a family.

The group in the Anglican church in Collingwood park is on a thursday. I havn't been there myself but a friend has a said it 's a bit cramped, but they do craft etc each week as part of the morning.

Check out Riverlink's monthly Storytime. He's a bit young for the craft, but there is a story and singing and dancing and each parent gets a free cuppa from where ever it is that month, and they have lucky door prizes and then craft. It's on the second wednesday each month at 9am.

There are storytimes at all the Ipswich libraries most weekdays, you can grab a flyer about that at the library, it's quite engaging. They also run a Baby Rhyme Time which I think goes for about 7 weeks, once a week, and that's fun for the under 18mths I think. I did that with my daughter.

If you're interested in paying for an activity I am a huge fan of Ipswich PCYC's kindergym classes, qualifies gymnastics instructors play with the kids and mums/dads and lead them through activities that have the purpose of strengthening them up for gym. It's so great, and kids can go to that from crawling. It works out to $7.50 a session and is run most days, hop on their web sight. My daughter's been going to that since she was 15 mths and she's nearly 4 now. She'll always do it until she wants to stop herself. Not only is it good physically, but they learn to respect authority figures, to wait, to take turns. all good for school and later.

You'll find alot of things will stop for the holidays soon. but the library and the Ipswich nature centre and animal park, any park really, can still be as regular as you want, it's up to you.

wow, that was really long, sorry.
