I am a stay at home mom with an 11 month son. I am having a difficult time locating a FREE playgroup in my area (I live outside of Dallas, Texas). My son needs to have some sort of interaction with other kids his age. Right now he mostly interacts with adults. Can anyone offer any advice?

I've been a MOMS Club member for 5 years. I've loved their playgroups and other activities. Each chapter has dues (around $20 to $30), but every chapter offers scholarships. My group does 2 to 3 activities a week & I don't know what I would do without the adult interaction. GL!

Check with hospitals, doctor's offices, and your local health department. You may have stumbled across a need in your area, though -- a free playgroup...why not start your own if you can't find one? I always like the idea of starting things on my own because I take pride in what I've created. By creating your own, you can ensure that he's also around other kids from a similar upbringing that won't clash with the values you are trying to teach him.

check with local hospitals and your pediatrican to see if they know of any. Also try meetup.com. I'm in Texas but closer to Houston than Dallas by about an hour or so.
