Does anyone know a good way to keep my 1 1/2 year old daughter from pooping in the tub? It is getting quite frequent, like 3 times a week for the last 2 weeks.

I think probably it's the warm bath that's relaxing her. You can try sitting her on a pot prior to the bath to see if she'll go, or half-way through the bath bundling her up with a towel and sitting her on a pot.

Potty 'training' isn't necessary, in the sense of the word, but potty 'learning' is quite fine. There is no forcing or coercion involved. Just try to be sensitive to her signals and timings.

It's just something that she'll end up growing out of anyways as she gains more awareness of her body.

my 2yr old did this for a while. pay attention to her schedule and bath her after she's pooped, annoying but not as annoying as having to bleach the tub and then bathe her again. and don't make a big deal out of it when it happens, if she knows it gets to you, she may do it again. just put her aside in a towel on the potty, clean the tub and put her back in for a quick wash down or just use Wet Ones.

My daughter did the same thing and the only way to avoid it was to try to bathe her after a big poop. I know this is not neccesarily convenient, but if she does it around the same time most days, you might have to change her bath time.

Amanda is an expert on this one!! Our little sister was terrible for pooping in the tub and usually when poor Amanda was bathing with her! Have you concidered potty training? I know that sounds really strange to say with a 1 1/2 year old and I personally wouldn't normally suggest it. But if she is going that often; its one of two reasons I can think of. 1 being the warm water is just relaxing her enough she can't help it or the 2nd reason being she doing it intentionally and that would mean its time to train she is ready. If this is brand new in the last 2 weeks I would try offering her a potty even if its just before bath time and see if maybe she is just looking for a place to go because she is trainable now.
