my son is 18 months and he will sit on the potty all day long, but he never goes. he has a word for pee and he uses it, but only when me or his daddy are using the potty! some days I think im starting it too early and others I feel like if he goes one time then we will be ready to go. what should I do to encourge him without rushing or pushing him to the finish line?

Well, my daughter was almost 4 when she was completely potty trained. Some kids potty train earlier than others, depending on when they are ready. With my daughter I had to let her do it herself, I got started, but she would go hide when she had to go...so I decided to stop & see what happened & sure enough, she potty trained herself. Now, my fiance & I are working with our 3 year old son to get him potty trained. It's working ok...he knows when he has to go potty, BUT we are having trouble with him holding it & not telling us when he has to go. Otherwise he is doing ok. We are trying to get him potty trained before our 3rd child gets here in August...and i'm not sure how well that's going to turn out. But we are hoping for the best. Maybe give it a little bit of time, I would maybe just keep working with him, but it's possible he just isn't ready yet. Good luck hun.
