My daughter was potty trained when she was around 16 months but with my 3 year old boy i kept trying since he was 2 but he just didn't want to do it so i just let him decide on when he was ready i'd just keep asking him all the time if he wanted to use the potty. Finally, before he turned 3 i asked him if he wanted to use the potty and he went to the bathroom this time. Thank goodness! lol! Good luck!

my son is 3 yrs old and he is off the diapers full day with only night diapers. I have gone full turkey with it. He still does not tell me so I have to take him in a timely manner with some mistakes in between where he tells me that he did it. Still in a learning process, at least he is holding onto it for 2 hrs or more at a stretch. Keeping our fingers crossed...seriously with kids it needs patience a bucket fulll of.....

i wondered the same question. my daughter is only 18months old. i let her have a break from her nappy to air her bum and as true as god she came over to me ten minutes later and pointed to her privates and started moaning when i looked a second later she had a wee on the floor. i couldnt believe it. not that she had a wee on the floor i was expecting that to happen but the fact she told me in her way with out words that she needed to go toilet. this got me thinking maybe she might be ready for training. with much research everyone is saying the same thing. the rules that apply to all kids regardless of age is that you have to do it at a time where there are no major changes going on in there lives eg. moving house, new baby, going from cot to bed things like that. also if you train too soon it can actually take longer funny enough. the later you leave it the easier for the child and quicker it will be mastered. many say 3yrs is the perfect time or as soon as they have mastered the pulling up and down of their own pants and trousers. so i decided to leave my daughter till she can do that. basically all the experts suggest is when ever you think they are ready to be trained.

Our Dr. recently told me to not try with my son until he is at least 2 or even 2 1/2. She also said that timing is everything. She said that potty training should only take about 4 days. If it takes longer than that - you started too early and it apparently means that your child is too young and not mentally ready to understand it. My son is 18 months and he is interested in the potty but not ready yet so I can only share what I've heard. Best of luck to us all in that department!!!

it depends! My oldest was started at 2 years old, and so was my second child. Then my two little ones my son was 3 before I could even get him to think about it. My youngest she was potty trained 2 months after her 2nd bday..
