Potty Training - Need help

My son is 3, will be 4 in September and he has yet to do anything in the toilet. I am worried as he is interested and he will sit there but nothing. He starts school next year so i need to have him fully potty trained. Don't know what to do anymore. He will go hide and poop and immediately he wants to get changed. I'm at a loss. Another one is the pacifier, he doesn't use it outside of the house and barely in the home but definitely at night time and although my daughter was more accepting and adapted more, my son gets very sad when i tell him that pacifier has to go to babies now. He's a big boy. Don't know if i should go cold turkey on him and deal with it.

Some kids take longer to train. My middle son got fully potty trained at 4 and a half. I didn't think it would ever happen and then one day, it did.
I always asked him if he had to go and if he said no, I didn't push it. I would just ask him again in an hour. Eventually he said yes and it went on and on from there.
As for the pacifier. Take it away and don't give in. I personally think 3 is too old for that.
