my son is almost 3 and i am trying so hard to potty train him at home. but on the weekends he visits his dad and he is not as stern with it as i am. talking to him about it does not help since he has a different outlook on it as me....what do i do?!

Just do the best you can. When he's with you have him try anytime you go. Of course remind or encourage him to go if it's been a while. How successful is he with his dad? Or does dad just not care if he's using the potty yet? For the sake of consistency, you and his dad need to have a chat and get on the same page.

In meantime, be patient with your son, yourself, and his dad. He's going to get this figured out.

It is so hard when there isn't consistancy. I promise that in his own time, your son will get it. In the mean time, show him videos (I have one called "potty power" that is really good), if you are comfortable with it, let him watch you "go", and just be patient. I used to work, so potty training with my kids was very hard, because of the consistancy, but eventually, one day they just got it. To be honest, I had actually given up and just said oh well, maybe they'll go to kidergarten in diapers (just kidding of course), but it seemed like as soon as I eased up, they were more willing.
