Powdered milk provides plenty of calcium but no fat. There are two kinds of powdered milk. there is instant which is very expensive and then there is regular powdered milk. Both are made with skim milk because any fat in the powder would become rancid. Your toddler NEEDS the fat and should be taking WHOLE milk so powdered milk will not be supplying her with the fat she really needs for her continued brain development. You may want to switch to powder in a few years. I have five kids and do give them Whole milk still (oldest is 7) and they love eating the powder milk by spoonfuls but as a treat not as a drink.

I'm pretty sure that Christina is right about it being low fat. I always keep some in the house for emergencies but not for every day consumption. I have a 3, 2, and a 4 month old. My older kids are still on whole milk (mostly because they are on the lower end of the growth chart). It's probably at least nutritionally similar.

I am not sure but I think that powdered cows milk is low fat and at 14 months she should have whole milk because it is high in fat. You could always ask her doctor. They would be able to let you know. My son is also 14 months and he drinks whole milk.
