So I took a test on valentines day and it came up neg. So I took another one the wed after and it came up +. I took 2 more to make sure and they said the samething. Well when we went to our 1st appt yesterday they said you are not 10 weeks. They did an ultrasound and found a gestational sac no embryo. So they are hoping there is a miscalculation and we are only about 5/6 weeks. I go back in a week for another us in the hopes there is an embryo visable. This is my 3rd pregnacy and carried the other 2 fine. Has anyone had this happen and it turn out fine?

Yes, and I am currently 8 months pregnant with that same baby. I went for the first ultrasound which I thought was 10 weeks and no heartbeat but a sac was shown ..and it measured 5 weeks 6 days. I had to go back a couple weeks later and everything was fine.

I think it is also worth mentioning that I miscarried between my daughters and it was a similar scenario. However, the good news for you is ..I felt like something was very wrong. I had morning sickness in the worst way and then it just stopped one day and my appetite died down immediately too. I had a gut feeling that it wasn't okay even before the ultrasound.

With the first one I had to have surgery...a dnc to remove all of the tissue. With the second, I just had symptoms of a VERY heavy period and my body for rid of it on its own. Your dr should have told you if you needed anything done. With both of mine, I had bleeding that led me to the ER and that is when I found out there was no embryo...so mine happened very quickly after that. Good luck:)

So did you just let your body take care of it? If so when did it decide to do it? I am right now waiting but have mixed feelings... Some ways I want it to be done not knowing when it is going to happen. But at the sametime dont know if I want the pill. I have been a little achy most the week off and on..

Heather, I am so sorry to hear that. I was worried that it might be the case. I had 2 pregnancies like that as well....so I know what you are going through. Best of luck and again, I am so sorry.

I want to thank all of you for the help. I went to the dr yesterday and they still saw nothing no yolk sac out embryo, just an empty gestational sac. so they called it a blighted ovum and my body well rid of it,.so it is a miscarriage.

Thanks ladies it makes me feel like there is still hope!! My appt is on Wed and I well let you all know what we find out. I have been praying and praying that it all turns out fine. I have never been so scared!! I feel a little better today I guess I have come to terms that all I can do right now is wait and what happens happens. I just hope the embryo shows up on Wed. She said if I am having symptoms it is a good sign. I am not sure I am completely having those. Once in awhile my boobs have a little pain in them and I was nauseous last night. But with my other 2 pregnacies I was not nauseous and my 2nd pregnacy my boobs were never very sore. So I dont know.... I keep feeling we are going to go and everything is going to be fine, but at the sametime am scared there well be nothing. She did take blood and we are just waiting for the lab to send her the results. She said she would let me know what they are at when she gets them, i am almost scared to hear what they are at.

With all my kids, they said I was either further along than what I thought, or I wasn't as far along. With my last 2, I used ovulation tests to get prego, so I was very sure on when it happened. With my 3rd child, they said I wasn't as far along as I thought, and with my 4th child. they said I was about a week further along. I think it is just so hard for them to tell so early on. If you think about it, some babys are perfectly healthy and developed at 38 weeks gestation, and some aren't ready til 42 weeks. Since there can be such a huge difference then, why not early on too? (hope that all made sense...sorry, my daughter woke me up 2hrs early, so I'm half asleep.LOL) Congrats on the pregnancy, and good luck!

Yes, this happened with my 2nd (current) pregnancy. I took a test and it came up positive straight away. A few days later I was positive I felt something move and even my husband felt something when he placed his hand on my stomach, which made me think I was further along than first thought... however when we went for the ultrasound it only showed up the sac and no sign of an embryo. I was pretty gutted, but I went for another scan two weeks later and was able to see the baby that time. I'm now 23 weeks and he is growing well (measuring a week ahead in size already... yikes). Good luck with your appointment next week =)

Thanks! It does help. I am really hoping that is the case with us. I have to healthy boys that I carried to full term - 2 and 4. I am hoping Wed we see something and my HCG levels are fine. She said she would let me know when she got the numbers. I am really praying that is the case.

My third child was like that. I took a test shortly before Chritsmas..was +. Went for an ulstrasound in January and they couldn't see anything other than a sac. (and it had to be a vaginal ulstrasound to see even that). Went for another ultrasound a couple weeks later and got to see a baby. I was only about 5/6 weeks at the first ultrasound..I thought I was farther along, but turned out my pregnancy test was able to go positive even though I shouldn't have been able to get a positive cuz I was so newly pregnant. Anyway, long story short, in my case I was just too early to see anything and within a couple weeks there was a baby there and I carried her full term and she is now a happy little 4 year old. Hope that helps, and I hope this is the same situation with you!! Good luck!
