I had hartburn with my first child, but nothing like this. Any tips for dealing with it? It wakes me up at night and does not let me eat much during the day. Anything or nothing can make it realy bad; a glass of water seems to be the worst trigger. Please help im taking tums, but I dont want to do many drugs for this

I used to drink a full glass of Milk after each meal and that worked wonders. It kills two birds with one stone :) Also just try to stay away from acidic foods. That is what worked for me :)

Heartburn with my daughter was so bad that my doctor suggested I take Zantac Extra Strength, and it really helped. I'd say talk to your doctor... if it's bad enough, you might have to try drugs.

dissolve like 1/2 a tablespoon of baking soda into a glass of water. Allow it to FULLY dissolve (otherwise you'll have to go to the ER) in the water and drink it. It helps!

I had the lollies called Fruit tingles. Midwife put me on to it and worked really well 4 me. You can try that

BTW... my husband and mother use it now if they have heartburn instead of tums or anything else. They love it... my mom always says it works better then the $20 stuff she has. I just laugh and say I know because it was only $2..lol

I don't know where you are but my dr recommended an OTC antiacid... I found the best one at Target it is the generic of most antiacids called famotidine. Its VERY cheap and its one tablet a day... I swear it works in like 5 minutes and will not have any problems until the next day. It was the best $2 I spend.. lol

Okay, have you raised the head of your bed? No, pillows won't help. They just bend you, causing additional upward pressure. You need bricks or something under the feet at the head of your bed. If water makes it worse, no more in the hour or two before bed. Not such a bad thing, less middle of the night runs to the bathroom. Eat you dinner earlier and try to have it be things that you digest easily.

For meds, my doc cleared me for ranitidine and cimetidine, as well as Tums and Mylanta. These two are OTC long term acid reducers. I take them only at night unless it's really bad during the day. Otherwise, it's just Tums.

I was just given a Rx for Prilosec, but haven't tried it yet. I would really encourage you to go in for a visit with your doc about this and soon. There really isn't much reason to torture yourself more than necessary during this time. Good luck.

solution- ALOE VERA, go to a health food/natural product store and ask there for drinking Aloe. Make sure it's Bio-Active Aloe, some are 100% Organic Aloe but still may be medicinally dead, so ask first.
