Problems with solids

My almost 7 month old just does not like eating. We introduced solids 1 month ago and have been following the Annabel Karmel meal planner for the last 2 weeks. He sometimes dry reaches and sometimes vomits. He turns his head away when he sees the spoon. I have to trick him and give him a toy so he opens his mouth and then shove the food in.

He has been eating banana, baby cereral, rusks apples, pears, carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin, potato, custards and various vegetables. Pears and apples he seems to eat more of.

Is anybody having these problems. We have either 1 or 2 meals a day and eat between 10-40mls.

It is such an effort just to get him to eat something. When he does eat he does not want as much milk which is good.

He is VERY young for food. He may not be ready yet. My first 2 were at that age but my third was not. My third has the best appetite now of the 3! I would just offer it to him on his tray. If he eats it himself great if not try again later. He does not need meals at his age. If he likes the apples and pears that could be fine for now. You do not want to force him to eat at this age or any age. If you are nursing just keep doing that (you said milk but not what kind). Good luck.

i would't worry about him not eating solids as long as he has his milk. anything you give him before 1 yr is just for fun. if you are rally worried then see your doctor about it. sorry if im not much help.

My 3 and a half year old refused anything to but baby food (mostly fruit) until he was a year and a half. i kept bringing him to get checked because i knew it wasnt normal but my dr klept telling me that as long as hes drinking and eating that not to worry yet, he was gaining weight and stuff, but if he hadnt started by age 2 he would refer me to someone. i kept giving him finger foods and other stuff trying to get him to eat and around a year and a half he tried some spagetti one night, and now its his favorite food. he is still really picky though but it has its blessings in the sense he dont like cake or cookies or chocolate or anything sweet. so dont fret, just keep trying and he will pick it up when hes ready
