My daughter is 6-1/2 weeks old right now, and I have to bring her outside with me while my 2-year-old plays outside. The problem is that I can't seem to find a sun hat small enough for her. It seems like they either come in newborn (0-6 weeks) or 0-6 months. I bought her one sized 0-6 months, but it's too big and clearly has to accommodate a 6-month-old's head.

We're going down the shore in two weeks so I need to find one quickly! My daughter's head is average size, too. Any suggestions for me?

Thanks, Chet! Very helpful advice. I never would have thought to look in the Dollar Store!

Some 0-6 month hats run small. Some 0-6 week hats run large. You just have to try them on and hope to get lucky. Try dollar stores and discount stores. Often they have hats that run small.

Alternatively, you could try washing a 100% cotton hat that it too large in hot water and drying it on high in hopes that it will shrink.

Another option would be for your daughter to wear a kerchief like this:

Or the stroller or a portable sun canopy, or even a cheap pop-up play tent from ikea to keep her shaded.
