My 20 month old loves chalk. we have a chalk board table thing (or even a dark color piece of paper) and he will do that for at least a good 10-15 minutes. Or hotwheels loves cars and will play with them about the same amount of time. And if I am baking a cake or cookies after they are done I will slice him a piece or give him a cookie and a spoon of frosting (i know real healthy) and let him "frost" them...it is a big clean up sometimes but that also gives me another 15-30 minutes to clean something else...and i only do that like once or twice a month!

I do puzzles, or blocks, or coloring..usually sometimes picture books help and for the older one maybe the puzzles! GL

You can try and get him to help you. My son will help unload the dishwasher, hand me dirty clothes while I put them in the washer\dryer and will help me carry things around, like clothes, the hamper etc. I let him scatter his toys in his room and we will pick them up once or twice a week, unless it gets really bad. Once all the chores are done that he has helped you with then try coloring with him, playing with playdough, just watching him play outside. This is what I do with my 21 month old little boy.
