I have seen this question on here and it appeared to be a very controversial subject, my boys are ages 3 and 5. I was too young and uninformed about whether or not to have them circumcised and their father was not around either so I did not ask him either. Their father is circumcised and so is their older brother, my stepson. My five year old complains about his penis hurting and he just seems to have troubles with it. My 3 year old I don't he doesn't seem to care. I want to have them circumcised because I read all the benefits but I am worried about the procedure being painful and the pain afterward. Anyone have any advice for me? I love my babies and I don't want to make them go through any pain unless it would help them in the future.

It is best to do it while they are younger. Teenage boys are not as honest and don't want to come into a Urology office. Don's just look at the outcome now. Look down the road and weigh your options. Good luck!

I work for a Urologist and we do circumcision on young male children. We have not had any come back with complications and the pain seems to be minimal. My advise would be to "shop around" to find a urologist that has a good reputation and works well with children.

I had my son circumcised at birth. I, personally, would have it done now while they're still young. I have a cousin who ended up having it done in his 20 ' s and the doctor told him, the longer you wait, the more painful.it can be.

So I took my boys to the urologist. My 5 year old has no choice he needs to have the circumcision. Apparently I have not been helping him take better care of it so that is completely on me. My three year old wouldn't need a circumcision but there is part of it that is attached. However they are both getting circumsized july 9th . I am super nervous for them but I am trying to just forget about it and go with it. Their going to feel much better after its healed so Thank you guys for all of your input and helping with the decision.

Yeah, actually I don't know anything about boys... it just seemed like it would hurt... poor them.

Do whatever the doctor says. And good luck!!!

Laura Apt.
I appreciate your advice I am just really scared of how they would react to that. My 3 year old is super attached and freaks out just going to any doctor. Is there anything you can tell me about the procedure? I did a lot of research and it looks to be a lot more beneficial to their health in the present and future to have this done.

Tanya, you dont have any sons, maybe you would see the whole issue differently if you would have a boy.

Thank you guys for your support and honesty, I really appreciate it. I am going to take my 5 year old to the doctor and see what she suggests for both.
Thanks again this is very helpful

Here where i live you can do it at that age.I think its something to take a look at by the 5 year old because he has pain.If its nessecary to do it then i would. My cousin got it done when he was 4,ofcourse its abit painful, but rather once then having pain for years because thr skin is too tight. I would make an appointment by the doctor and ask them if it should be done. There is also the possibilty to only have a part of the foreskin removed,or even special creams that streches the skin.Let a doctor inform you.You dont want your 5yr old to have pain all the time or that he gets an infection etc. So my answer would be Yes,do it,if its medicaly nessecary.

Where I am you can only get it done until 2 weeks old. After that it has to be for medical reasons, like the skin tightening and restricting urine flow.
