I would ask why you would want her in preschool? Is it for social reasons? Why not join a playgroup instead? I don't know that she needs the structure of preschool until she's 4 and getting ready for kindergarten. Enjoy your time with her as long as possible. She will HAVE to be in school soon enough. :)

Hi! I think that you should wait till she is 4. I was a Head Start Pre-School teacher for 12 years, and found that there was a real difference in  3 and 4 year olds. The 3's were still not quite socially ready, it seemed, and the 4' s seemed more ready . As a mom of a 3 yr old and twin 5's, I love to be home with them, and enjoy being their first teacher- of course the twins start kindergarten in 10 DAYS!!! I can't believe it! But, I would would feel content with a decision to wait until 4 for preschool! Good Luck to you! Heather

My 3-year-old is super excited to begin preschool. She will go two days a week from 8:30 until 11:30. It will be a small class, and the preschool is at our church. We are all very excited for her to start preschool; she is definitely ready. It's a great time for kids to socialize and get to play with other kids their age. I am a stay at home mom, so it's just what she needs.

Only you know your child well enough to know what's best for her. My advice would be to try it if you think she's ready and if it's to much for her take her out and wait until next year. Every child is so unique that I don't think one set of rules works for all children.

Well I am new to this circle of mom’s thing but I had the same question last year when my daughter went to preschool. I didn’t think she was going to be all that into it, but on the second day she was asking me to drop her at the door! Being that I have always stayed home with her I thought she might have some fears of being alone but she didn’t! She loved it! She will go to preschool again this year and to tell you the truth she doesn’t mind at all!! If your school is anything like mine she should be in a class with mostly kids her age and its just fun for them, gets them used to being away from mom for a little bit and helps them prepare for when kindergarten actually starts. I say go for it! You may be surprised at how much she likes it!
