I've read that when a baby is learning new things it can interfere with their sleep.  Almost like their brain is too busy trying to process all the new info that it can't shut itself down to sleep.  Or maybe he's not comfortable?  Too cold/hot or doesn't like his jammies.  Have you tried using white noise?  We always had a fan going in our sons room and it seemed to help him.  Also don't use anything to put him to sleep that won't be there when he wakes in the middle of the night.  Our son started waking up randomly and once we stopped using his mobile at bedtime, he would put himself back to sleep if he woke.  He started sleeping thru the night at 16 weeks.

I hope you can figure out what's disturbing him!  Here's to getting some sleep!!!

Well it could be a lot of things but my first thought is he is in some sort of pain.  You didn't mention if you have taken him to the doctor, but that would be my next move.  If you get a clean bill of health then maybe it's his food causing too much gas.  My son had a milk allergy and once we figured it out he slept and was happy.

Of course it could be that you have a colicy baby.  There's a medicine called gripe water that sometimes helps.  Thankfully there is an end but it takes a while to get there.

I hope this has helped a little.  Good luck!  I hope you get a little sleep soon :)
