ok, my son is now 1 year old and since day one he has had to be held in order to go to sleep. since his daddy was deployed it was just more comfortable for me to cuddle with him especially since it was just me and the baby alone for 6 months. i don't know how to break him of this habit and i am pretty much on my own since my husband works at night most of the time. please please help me.

Yeah my son was the same way, and when he was about ten months I just layed him down in bed and walked away. The first night he cried about 15 minutes, second night less than ten, and the third night nothing! Since then I just lay him down and he's good :) My DH was also deployed, so I feel your pain!

controlled crying i have found has been the best way. now my 1 yo goes to sleep with a bottle and my 2 yo has a cup of milk and a biscuit and goes to sleep with his fav movie.. conrolled crying can be a hard but ends in a good reult after a couple of days

Mabey if u put him in a cot colse by to you.. It mite be a bit easer because the room will still feel familiar to him and he still be able to fear you :)

Its going to be tough but you can start by gradually weening him. Rock him to sleep but right before he falls asleep lay him down. He will probably fuss. Try just patting his back to soothe him. If it isnt working then pick him up until he is soothed again and just keep repeating. This can take up to a week. The other option is to let him cry it out but when I tried that it just broke my heart and I couldnt go through with it. Good Luck.
