I had a neighbor who smoked throughout her pregnancy and I was concerned for her, but her baby was born perfectly fine. My neighbor next door also has 7 beautiful kids and says she smoked throughout all of her pregnancies. I didn't know that women smoked during pregnancy, but those are the two I've encountered and their children are healthy and perfectly fine, so it is possible. I pray that yours will be also and that the Lord will take the urge to smoke away even more every day.Amen. Enjoy your pregnancy and new sweetie : D

Luckily I was trying to quit before I got pregnant . When I found out I stopped. I tried the electronic cigarette an it helped me quit. I just couldn't do it when I was pregnant . Just try to remember your little baby will be feeling EVERYTHING you do. Good luck. Try the electronic cig.

I didn't smoke with my first but I did with my second. Although both my girls are just fine and healthy, my second was born at 34 weeks and I had to be induced bc she wasn't growing. If I ever have another I prolly won't smoke again. My youngest wasn't born with any defects and she even got to come home within two days but her weight was only 5lbs and it was most likely bc I was smoking. Hope this helps.

I smoke with all three of my sons and as long as you keep eating well there birth weight will be fine but the baby might have asthma. I was lucky none of my babys got it

I smoked during my two pregnancies and both my boys were perfectly healthy. You really have to make your own mind up.
I formed the opinion that the anti smoking view was over played and I didn't agree with it.

Hi Jessie,

I smoked with both of my children who are now 21 and 13 years old and both are just fine. I quit both times on the days I gave birth because of breastfeeding. Both of my children were born fine, but the ob/gyn said that smoking during pregnancy can cause smaller birth weight in children, also when they put the fetal monitor on me about 20min. after my last cigarette, my daughter's fetal heart rate was increased. I will say that second hand smoke after the baby is born is much more of a concern. Due to my close relatives smoking around me as a baby, I developed chronic bronchitis consistently as a young child and teenager before I ever even smoked my first cigarette. It also can cause children to develop allergies and I'm sure numerous other health issues. The sooner you can quit the better, but don't stress about the cigarettes you have already smoked. Anxiety is probably not going to do any good for you or your unborn baby.
I hope this helped a little!! :-)

I also smoked while i was pregnant, and now my son seems to be a perfectly normal and healthy 16m old baby boy! I can not imagine it is good for your child, but i will say i smoked three smokes a day untill my final trimester, and there is nothing wrong with my son from it.On a same note, much like Aurora ive heard MANY storys about children who get seizures, and all the parents are smokers...Something to think about!

Hi Jessie! I smoked like three cigarettes a day for the first 3 months of pregnancy and then when my baby girl was born the doctors said she was fine but when she turned 1 month old she started having seizures because a small part of the brain didn't form in week 8 of pregnancy. My baby girl is perfectly well now, she will need medication for 3 years and doctors said it wasn't because I smoked during the first weeks of pregnancy but I will always be wondering if it was my fault. Every pregnancy is different and I understand that you might be having a hard time quitting but I wouldn't recommend it at all. When I quit smoking I was very anxious and each time I wanted to smoke I washed my teeth and ate a gum it was hard at the beginning but it worked for me, I hope it works for you too :)
