Well when my son was younger, how i knew is when he grew out of his car seat. As soon as he got to big for it. I think he was year before we switched it over..

depends on the seat. My booster seat recommends 34 inches tall and 30 pounds.

keep them rear facing until they have outgrown the guidelines for their seat, then front facing until same. My 18 mo old is in a rear-facing convertible and 3 1/2 yrs and 6 yrs old are in front facing convertibles. My kids are small and my 7 yr old would fit in a conv. by weight but we have him in a belt positioning booster.

Usually the next step up is a rear facing car seat that can swivel around to a front facer. They are for babies 20lbs and up. Pop into your local baby store, they'll be happy to help x
