My son is 4.5 months old and his dr recommended I fed him solids 3x a day. He eats cereal and fruit for breakfast, veggies and fruit for lunch, and veggies, fruit, and a little cereal for dinner. He also has 4 bottles a day, my DH thinks its too much food.

I was told the same thing about feeding 3 meals a day and it was too much for my lil one to digest and he'd get constipated. I went back to 2 lil meals a day and here we are two months later and he has 3 meals a day. Somedays he wants a bigger portion size and other days not as much, we just go by how he's feeling. I think its nice to have guidelines to work from but to adapt them to your child, cuz really every child is different.

Thanks..I only give him a tiny bit at a time. His doctor told me I should feed him solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I still think its too much for his little tummy, but he loves veggies and fruit. He does seem a little constipated sometimes. It's only been a been a week that he's had solids 3x a day, I'll switch back to twice a day.

My son only recently started eating 3 meals a day at 11 months. He had a hard time learning to chew. Now he's a year old and eats whenever we eat. I personally, thought 3 meals a day was too much and started with one in the morning, moved up to one at night, and then added snacks. Now at 1 year he eats 3 meals and snacks. If your baby is okay, not constipated or having trouble eating then I don't see the problem.
