Does anyone else feel isolated and lonely being at home all day with the kids? I love my children but baby babble only goes so far and I feel awful but when my kindergartener talks so much that I feel like I put myself on auto-pilot when I'm responding to him. Just uh huh, uh huh and sometimes he drives me crazy with his nonstop talking. I know he's just exploring his world of vocabulary and building his vocabulary but I just feel like I need to get out or I'm gonna go crazy. I'm wondering if it would be better for me to work outside the home and then maybe I'll be excited to come home and actually LISTEN to my 5 year old and all his crazy stories and give more quality time to both kids. I used to be a social butterfly and it's torture being confined w/ nobody to talk to besides a 1 and 5 year old.

I don't know what kind of advice I can give you, but I can tell you, you are not alone. I live that feeling every day. The only difference is you ahve 2 kids. I have 6. Three of which are under the age of five. All I can suggest is try to make time for yourself. Arrange a time when your 5 year old is in school and your 1 yr old is napping to pick up the phone and call a friend. Or arrange a sitter once a month or more if possible and have lunch with a friend just yourself. For me my only break is when I can occassionally get to the grocery store by myself. Than I milk it for all I can.
