Suggestions for my 13 month old

My son is just over 13 months old and I feel like hes getting bored hanging around the house. I put some of his toys away for a little over a week so when I take them out they're fun again, but thats not working as well as it did at first. We live in Minnesota and I'd LOVE to take him to the parks and stuff around here but I don't want him crawling around in the dirt (he's still not walking). We go on playdates periodically but not every week. Do you ladies have any suggestions for what I could do with him so he's not so bored? Any thing would be apprciated. Thanks!

Library is a great place.. and going to the park with a truck shovel and bucket is ok.. just wipe his hands and correct him when he put anything in his mouth. Hold his hand and walk with him. My youngest is 16 months old.

Check out your local newspaper for local events that are kid friendly. I did a quick search for you at

There are lots of cultural things to go see that are cheap or free and will give you a chance to teach him about the world around him. Bonus is that you get out of the house and maybe meet some other moms with small children. You can always check at your local library too. They usually have programs for small children during the week. Hope that helps!
