I am 43 and have an only son that has just turned 3. He has been diagnosed with some speech and delayed learning issues. I quit my part time job to focus getting him on track. He is in pre-school 2 days a week and we are on a waiting list for speech therapy. But I find myself feeling isolated and depressed. My husband has a great job but travels a lot and works very long hours which doesn't help. I also feel like my son's issues are somehow due to my lack of parental experience. Any suggestions?

Hi Sharyn, I am 44 with a 9 yr old boy. I am a lot like you, in that I to am alone a lot and my husband is also gone a lot. My son also was delayed in many things, or so i thought. There is a lot of labeling these days, but I found that everybody is different and learn to do things at different times. My son has come around and does great now, he has never been held back and gets good grades. So please don't blame yourself!! EVERYONE is different. If he has some focusing issues there is a program called Focus, you can find it online and can really help, I know I just got mine and it is awesome and a lot of fun!
