Okay tried all of the beneath suggstions and for my on none of he worked.. he was over 3 when we fnally got rid of them.. and it was the easiest thing to do.. my brother came to visit and when he left he took them.. I was mortfied thinking that Andrew would be up all night crying, and ya know what it was more my fear of having him scream that we never did it earlier.Anyways... we told him we couldn't find them.. he went to bed cried for 15 mins an was asleep...he asked for about a week if we had found themI kept saying no but we are looking and then he was over it...

I know this may not work.. but just take them.. you may be surprised by your childs reaction. My son went everwhere with his he was super attached to it so I was shocked when this worked...

Also my son had a blankie which was his other comfort so I think that softenend it a bit... but I tell ya I tried everything for over 6mths and when my brother just took the suckies I thought we were doomed!

So I say try it and you never know they may surprise you like mine did

Chop off the tips and tell her they are broken! Actually worked for us, but we took her noonies away way before she turned 2. You may have a bigger battle than I did!

I tried the Pacifier fairy for her and that didn't work but I have cut the tips and it seems to be working. She hates the feel of it in her mouth when it is like that so she has given them up at much objection. Thank you every one for the advice. I really do appreciate most of the comments posted. I have never let one of my kids have one for this long and she is the last of 4, but time gets away from you when you are so busy with all of them.So thanks again.

plain and simple she is 2 and a half, TAKE IT AWAY!! don't play games , don't cut off nipples just get rid of them!! and just explain they are for babies they are all gone now, or let her put them in a basket and give them to some one who has a baby , so she understands thats who they are for not almost 3 year olds!!

My daughter was addicted to those things I bet we had over time at least a hundred or so! One day I took her out side and told her there was a fairy that was asking for bebe's that is what we called them. I told her that she needed them for little boys and girls who needed the pacifers real bad. So we dug a hole and put them all in there and she laid down for a nap without one. She woke up and wanted to go outside and check to see if the fairy came. They were gone and she never looked back. No crying or any thing I was so amazed!!!

I broke my daughter at the same age,She is almost 9 now. Go to the dollar store and buy the cheapest passy they have and give her that with no other choice I bet ya she will drop it in less than a week if you stick to it. Mt daughter took it after all those years but she didnt want it after 3 or 4 days

So, I watch Supernanny every so often, and a lot of the time...she has great tips. Her tip for getting rid of the paci was as follows:

1. Tell your child there is a pacifier fairy.

2. She comes to collect all of the pacifiers from kids who no longer need them and she gives them to needy kids who cannot afford paci's for their babies.

3. Have your child run around the house collecting all of the paci's and put them into a decorated colorful bag. (like a fairy would leave)

4. Tie the bag to the limb of a tree or bush.

5. Tell your child that the paci fairy will leave her a special treat the next day because she did such a nice thing.

6. Then have a special treat tied to the tree the next day when your child looks for it.

I hope this helps. I would imagine there is some sort of video on Youtube for it as well.

My pediatrician said to cut the very tip of the nipple off. That way there is no suction. The suction is what makes a pasifier so loved by kids. It worked for my son!
