hi.. i am a stay at home mom to a 4 month old baby. (FTM). it seems that recently he has been hit by what people say as "4 month sleep regression" where he naps only for 30-45 mins. ( he takes 4 naps). except the morning nap which is from 8/8.30 till 10.30/10:45 . I follow a bedtime routine and put him to sleep by 9.30. But he will get up after 45mins and start crying. I try to put him back to sleep by patting or by giving a paci. it is only after the last feed ( around 11./11.30) that he will sleep but then also it takes him more than half an hour to sleep. I have the following questions :
i) is it a common issue ?? any one also facing the same problem ?? how long does this last??
ii) is self soothing recommended during this stage ?? ( ppl say they cant at this age)
iii) shouldi start sleep training ?? if yes which is the best method??. is cry it out recommended at this age ???
iv) how long should i wait for him to self soothe and then intervene ??
please feel free to share your story/experienmce and how you all overcame it.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST .. but i seriously want to deal with this issue .

I went through something similar with my first son. It lasted for almost a month. I let all of my children self sooth. I wasn't afraid to let them cry it out either for a period of time. My son would eat and then go down for a bed and when I would put him down no matter if it was nap or bed time, he would wake up after 10 min or so. I would let him cry and for the most part he would fall back to sleep. If he didn't fall back to sleep after about 15-20 min I would go in and try to sooth him. I hope you are able to find something that works for you.
