Hi ladies,

I took my little one for her 12 month doc visit last Tuesday, all went great! However her doc suggested starting her on whole milk; I did and it has been extremely difficult since. She's had been having a difficult time making poo and not being able to do so have messed up her whole regim, unable to nap fully, won't take food as before and now she have become extremely clingy. Any moms experiencing this and if so what are you using to help ease your little one?

Constipation is very common during that switch. I agree with trying goats milk first, that's what we did. We didn't actually switch to cows milk until J was 3 years, and we still drink it only occasionally--the goats milk tastes better to us.
Also, try mixing some formula into it at first and gradually reducing the amount of formula until it is just milk. I started with 1 oz milk in 6 oz of formula, then after a week I started doing 2 oz milk to 5 oz formula, and so on adding an ounce of milk and reducing an ounce of formula each week.

Try Goat Milk. Whole milk could be hard on their little stomach. I used to breastfeed and my doctor told me to start with Goat milk first than transition to Whole Milk.

I found with my little girls that gradually introducing it helped a lot. I usually give them 6oz of milk so I would give them 1oz of milk with 5 oz of formula for 2 days, then 2oz of milk with 4oz of formula and did that until it was all whole milk. I still give them formula at night mixed with a little cereal as it helps them sleep better or my youngest daughter wakes up in the night hungry. It will be difficult at first since its new to them, and to their bodies and get cranky when it makes them constipated or not feel well. I heard that goats milk does help and tastes a little better than whole milk and the transition seems to be much easier for kids who don't like the whole milk taste.

Thank you, things got so bad last night I had to call her pediatrician and she actually suggested I do that. Things are starting to improve but only because I have removed the whole milk completely but I intend to reintroduce it, using the suggestion.

I thought about it, I think I am going to try it. I am so scared of the straight whole milk, it hurts her little tummy and bottom. Thank you
