Hello Dana,

We did a few things - no cable TV, and I plan my meals pretty specifically for the week - so when shopping I only purchase the things I need for those specific meals. Nothing more. No home phone, with cell phones these days, we really didn't have the need for that, too. I know you don't want a stay at home job, but I can link you to a website where you can shop and get paid to buy the things you need anyway - toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, some food items, and pretty much anything else but perishables. Just a few thoughts for you. Hope this helps. If you want the information, let me know and we can chat further via e-mail.

Have a great day,

Theresa

Get rid of things like cable or other things that aren't necessary. Use the library for free entertainment in the form of books and videos. Won't be a good idea now, but in the spring start a garden. Shop thrift stores for clothing.

Get rid of the cable and get a satellite preferably Directv. Because Cable companies always jack up their prices at the beginning of each year. And watch for restaurants taht have kids eat free. Thats a good deal. I dont stretch my husbands paychecks because he never gives it to me. He uses it to pay HIS bills. I get disabililty checks and with taht i pay the utilities, and my bills. He gives me money for whatever but it's usually not a lot.

thankyou all. we have been going through things in our house to donate to charity for a tax write off and consignment. since my husband has been on unemployment,we'll prob. owe taxes.so that should help balance a little. you all have given me great ideas. my husband is working on owning his own buisness so he can get off unemployment and medical assistance so we need to have a phone line for fax, internet, and since we dont go out, cable saves us gas money cause we dont have to look for something to do.

I plan a verry strict budget. Sometimes a dinner at home costs more than eating out! Watch for resturants that advertise kids eat free. Sometimes paying for just you and your husband can be pretty cheap. I do this with three kids! Also in your budget, include basic things. If you know that you need about 50 dollars a week to keep up with needs (like walmart stuff) add it to your budget. Do opt to stay home, working really does cost more. The best thing to do is DO NOT panic over your budget, keep a cool head. It can be easier than you think when you just relax about it.

Mac and cheese. The cheap store brand. And pb&j sandwiches. I get coupons in the mail, and as soon as we get a printer, I'm going to print coupons off there (make sure the website is reputable, though). I also quit my job to save money! I know, it sounds odd, but with as much gas as I was using to drop my son off, then go to work, then pick him up, then go home... I was actually bringing in about $5/week!!! Good luck, and I hope you find some more ways to save.
