~These four walls~

Krystal - posted on 11/27/2011 ( 4 moms have responded )

I am and have been a sahm...i do enjoy it. Now my son is 12 and i am not expecting, jobs are very scarce where i live but thinking I should volunteer or something, i really am feeling useless.
My son goes to scholl by 7 am and gets out at 3pm, after i do my cleaning...i have x amount of time so i do my mornning walk with the dog and i read and i watch tv but as of late feel i am useless...and these four walls are driving me insane.

My husband on the other hand has the chance to get out due to work and finding a better job and applying to college..and just always going and i feel i have a cahin on my foot b/c i know i have my dutys as a wife and mom , but doing something when they dont need me has trully crossed my mind.

We all have a busy life when we are all home...it is mainly the hours when school is in...what would you do?

There are a lot of moms that feel exactly the way you do. It's perfectly normal. It's also a great opportunity to start afresh! I went through this same thing some three years ago. I would love to connect with you on Facebook: @coach2accomplish.

Ever thought of furthering your education? An online course could be usful, especially later on in... oh say 6 years when your child graduates and leaves home possibly- you will prolly go insane with nothing to keep you busy. BUt if thats not for you then yes I woud definetley try giving a go at something- if you cook you could start baking and selling desserts out your home, sewing- people love homemade clothng...etc. I even got asked to scrapbook for someone for pay. Also if your not a creative I hve a friend who cleans a few houses a day and stays busy and makes a little pocketbook cash- works for her- good luck:)

This time of year there are alot of ways you can volunteer, I would find something you enjoy doing and do it. there is no reason you shouldnt do something outside the home. or even find a part time job if that is what you wanted to do.

Good luck

Do you have any hobbies? Quilting, cross-stitching, scrap-booking, etc. These are all things I would love to do, but with a three year old and a 18 month old there is simply not the time. That or the ability to do them without little fingers inturrupting. You could also volunteer during the day, you might have to do a little looking around to find something you would like, but there are lots of people that need help. Just a few ideas, keep yourself busy so you wont be so bored :)
