What stages do you know when your baby is teething?

Brittany is right, you never REALLY know until you see the teeth, there are some clues though.
If your baby was formerly a good sleeper and starts waking repeatedly at night, it is likely due to teething pain. They will also often fuss for a bottle, but then not really drink anything (having the warm nipple or breast in their mouth is soothing).
Some children will run a mild fever and have a runny nose with clear discharge. This is usually right before the tooth breaks the surface. If the fever persists for more than a few days or climbs above 100F with no obvious reason though, go ahead and call a doc, just to be sure.

Some kids teeth come in quick, as early as two months, others come in very slowly and can take more than a year to show even though they are working below the surface.

You never truly know until you feel the tooth! My daughter was chewing on EVERYTHING from the time she was about 5 months, i thought for sure she was teething but just recently at 11 months her first tooth appeared out of her gums! Now that I know for sure she is teething, i have started giving her teething tablets ect. but I am also very careful not to give unneeded medicine unless you can tell she/he really needs it. Hope this helps a little bit!
