She has kind of always had a problem wanting to go to sleep. But now that we took away her pacifier she has started throwing tantrums and getting out of bed. My husband and I dont know what to do, we dont want to spank her for getting out of bed. We have tried to put a baby gate up in front of her door so she cant get out, but she either climbs over it or stands there and screams and stomps her feet. (us being in the military and living in a duplex on post we dont want her screaming and throwing a fit to cause the neighbors to get mad or think we are having problems and call the mp (military police)). I just dont know what to do to keep her in her bed... please help!!!!

Thank you,

Last night she went to sleep in 5 mins! She is up at 5 am though... oh well, i guess I will have to change her schedule and maybe that will help her sleep better! Oh and also i tried a new bed time routine, after baths we went to her room and sat and looked at books and read until it was time to go to sleep... fingers crossed this all works!!

Thank you! And congrats to yall too! I did the rocking to sleep with my first and I will never do that again lol. The book sounds good, I will try that tonight. I noticed today during nap she would freak out every time I would leave the room. I think also getting her a actual toddler bed (we just moved to Cali and both the kids are sleeping on just mattresses) with like dora or something on it will help.

Congrats!! on the new baby.... i think that you could rock her to sleep maybe that would work or read her a story it seems like she doesn't like to be by herself,

She hasnt had her pacifier during the day for a while, just while she naps and at night time. She hasnt really been asking for her pacifier she has just been getting out of her bed and screaming for me. I am out of punishments and things to try to get her to stay in her bed. I am 6 months pregnant and going up and down the stairs to try and keep her in her bed is killing me physically, and my husband is trying to help as much as he can. It is hard for him to hear her cry (he has PTSD from his deployment in Iraq) and he looses his temper with her so I feel that I need to do something so he doesnt get upset. And I dont want her getting so upset either!

Vanessa,

Hi my name is Deonna and my oldest is four now youngest is 14 month and one on the way. When my daughter was that age i let her sleep with it at night and during the day she didn't have it. What it does for her is clams her down and comforts her so she can sleep if you try that maybe it might work. are you guys trying to get her off the pacifier?
