I am a new mom with a son that needs to transition from bottles to sippy cups. He drinks water in straw sippy cups, but refuses to drink milk from them. i tried tommy tippee cups and he will drink out of those but he makes a giant mess. All i am asking is what you guys have tried and what worked for ur family. I know that i have a MIL who can't stand messes very well. She told me to do it in the high chair.... but i think there may b other options than just that.. anyon?

I have only ever given my daughter milk to drink while she is seated in her high chair and it's usually at mealtime.
I have a few different kinds of cups for her, but I generally only use the hard spouted Playtex sippy cups. She drinks water and juice from these and I allow her to carry them with her while she is playing.
She did have a little trouble first learning to drink from the sippy with the hard spout, so I started with a silicon spouted cup, but those leak, so once she got a hang of it, I switched.
There was a period, when she was first learning, that she would take a drink and let it dribble out of her mouth. This is a common part of the "learning to drink" period for most kids. I kept the cup with me and gave her a drink every now and then, with a towel handy, to control the mess.
During meals I used to give her a Tupperware cup, the kind with the white lid, they are not spill proof, though. My daughter is 18 months now and she has gotten a little more "experimental" when it comes to things like food and drinks, so I switched to the regular hard spouted sippy cup for meal time, to save my sanity and cleaning up spilled milk every time.
