trouble with the in-laws..... advice?

My mother in-law insist on giving my 8 month old cat toys to play with, am I the only one that thinks that's disgusting and unsafe? I'd like to know what other people's opinions are that's not in my family. My husband thinks I'm over reacting. Am I wrong?

One thing that you should point out to your in-laws is that cat poop contains a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis which is why pregnant women are not supposed to clean cat litter. Since cats aren't able to really wash (although they do clean themselves), the cat toys likely have traces of of poop and or litter on them and could be harmful to your child. Toxoplasmosis can be very dangerous to both pregnant women and small children and I would strongly recommend that you point this out to your in-laws and stand firm on not allowing this around your little one.

They have two cats at home so these are used toys, they are not even new. Thank you ladies for your replies. I feel less insane, they always make me feel like I'm over reacting and way to clean for my own good.

No I dont think you are wrong at all!...Cat Toys are for cats not kids! maybe try to talk to your mum in law and tell her that the cat toys are unsafe for babies...and made try to explain the saftey restrictions that go in to making baby toys (if you are not sure just google it) and then explain that there are not near as many rules and regs to make cat toys making the baby toys the better choice to buy.
I think a lot of people just dont think of things that could go wrong when buying toys for babies.
I hope that helps?

Ask to see the age limit on the bag the toys come in...then when she says there isn't one say exactly it's not made for kids! I would never give a child a cat toy! Things come off of those so easly and can harm a child. Don't let her do it anymore adn if she does just take the toy away from your child. There are age limits on toy for a reason and if there isn't one on the cat toy it's for a reason...

Good laws can suck big time...mine don't like me becasue i don't speak the same language, so i understand where you are coming from
