my boy didnt particularly like it, so i did it on my tummy laying on a slight incline to help him get used to it. he holds his head well now, he still doesnt love being on his tummy, but he manages a few minutes now and can occasionally flip him self over x x

I think one of the main concerns of tummy time is a flat head. They are going to build the muscles eventually whether or not they get tummy time. Tummy time just keeps little ones from getting a flat spot on the back of their head. If you are giving other exercises to keep them off their back a few times a day for a couple minutes each (such as a high chair, the exersaucer, jumperoo, standing etc) then it would help with the flat spot.

l didn't push my babies to do tummy time. l did put them in a high chair as soon as l could put a towel around them keep them upright. And l put them in their excer-saucers (walkers without wheels) as soon as 3 mo. with a stuffed animal tucked in front so they didn't fall forward and hit their faces. Their tiny bodies could only do that for a few minutes at a time before it started to hurt. But that's how l got mine to build up thier neck and back muscles. Now the twins are 6 months old and love to play on their tummies. Tummy time isn't the only way to build up strength.

Im in the same boat as you! My son is almost six months old and after about 2 or 3 minutes he is throwing a fit because he doesnt want to be on his belly anymore. He knows how to roll over but he is stubborn! My husband and I really try to encourage him to be on his tummy but we give up after he throws his fits! If you find anything helpful please let me know!!

My daughter is okay with the tummy time but she throws up if she is put on her tummy so it doesnt last long. Instead I bought one of those Bumbo seats and have her sit in it and supervise her. I bought the tray that goes with it and a little piano and put the piano on top of the tray so she has something to entertain her. she can stand it for about 20 minutes and from what the doctor told me thats really all they need a day. Hope this helps.

ok so i have tried the boppy pillow trick and she doesnt like that either. the airplane trick she does like but i cant do it to long cuz she gets heavy. layin her on my tummy she doesnt like either unless she is sleeping. i guess im gonna just have to do the airplane more and just wait. she love to stand up, to be able to see everything which i think is why she doesnt like bein on her tummy. thank yall for the replies!

My son never liked it. He learned to roll from tummy to back really early just to avoid it!

my son HATED it despised every single second on his tummy and would scream at the top of his lungs!!!!! then one day around 6 months he rolled onto his tummy and LOVED It and he crawled pretty soon after, So I wouldn't be too worried, if she doesn't like it don't push it she will do it when she is ready!!

Mine HATES tummy time and like you I get a screaming result. So I have tried something different. While researching I read that having the baby lay on your belly counts as tummy time and I have also learned a trick that helps with my daughter. If you have a boppy pillow, Put the pillow down and put the baby onto it so her upper body and arms are over the big part and her legs sit in the middle where it opens to go around your body. The sit infront of her and talk to her or play with a toy so she can grab it. She will lift her head to look at you and the toy and use her arms to push up getting the same result of tummy time but she is elevated and not screaming :) I hope this helps let me know. Good luck

Someone told me that they would sometimes play with their child by holding her up in the air (like an airplane) because she hated tummy time as well. Obviously, it wouldn't last too long necessarily, but it allowed her little one to work those neck muscles without being on her tummy on the floor.
