my 5 month old absolutly hates tummy time, everytime I put him down he crys until I give in and pick him up. he bearly tries to hold his head up and perfers to be on his back where he can see his toys and hasn't tried rolling himself, most babies I know his age are already rolling, could he just need more time?

My daughter also hated tummy time. But she was also walking by 10 months so just because he hates it doesn't mean he's behind or will be in any way. Tummy time is VERY important, but I wouldn't leave her if she was hating it. You gotta give them something interesting to look at. If he only does it for a minute, great! Then a half hour or so later try again. Repetition is the key for kids!!

Yes he needs time and you need to leave him down. Try to get him looking at something to claim him down. Everytime you pick him up he has won and he gets to get up. It will be a longer time each time you leave him then pick him up. Try to get into the tv,music box, toy, keys, etc. One woman's kid loved money. I am not kidding you. So she would put a dollar bill out in front of him for him to try to reach. Hey it worked. Good Luck.

My daughter hated it so I bought a bumbo which helped strengthen her back and neck without the tears. My daughter did not sit up unaided until she was 9 months old. Some babies just need more time.

Yes he could just need more time. My kid HATED tummy time and rolling around made him throw up ( he had reflux until 8 months).
