I don't let my child watch too much TV but he loves Sesame Street (I do too) But has anyone else noticed that they show the same 4 or 5 episodes all the time? As long as they have been on the air you'd think there would be hundreds of episodes to choose from.

Sometimes they do that to help the child learn. Repeating things over and over helps them learn it better. There could be many other reasons why, but I do think that is one of the reasons children's shows are repeat so much in a short period of time. It is annoying to us parents that have to watch/listen to it, but for the child it really does help their learning.

Yes, it's like that with most TV shows. They like rotate between 5-10 episodes and it's really annoying. I've also seen every Diego, Dora, Caillou episodes....
That's why with Sesame Street and Caillou i buy the DVD's. They're not expensive and have multiple episodes on them so my kids don't watch the same ones over and over again. I rotate them

They do show a lot of the same episodes over and over...u could always go to your public library and rent some; you look up all the dvd's sesame has out and the library can order ones they don't have in for u.
also u can go the your local store (target, walmart, barns and noble etc) and buy some of them.
something i did was get together with my other mom friends and swap dvd's of things our children watched a few times a month.

Yes, I have noticed this too Amy. And it's annoying! But here lately Lily has been really into Barney, and we have had to keep watching him over and over and over too. As soon as our snow clears out I am heading to the city and getting a stash of DVDs to have so that we don't have to sit thru the same episodes over and over again. I keep the TV on all day because it's just me and her and I can't stand a quiet house so it's on for noise. She doesn't just sit and watch 6 episodes of Barney in a day ;) lol

I'm not sure if this is an option for you or not, but perhaps you would be able to find some additional epsiodes at your local library?
