My little one just turned 3mos and 8days, but since he was a few days before he turned three months, he's been interested in watching TV. Well, of course he goes for those colorful cartoons on Disney Channel with strong preferences for Mickey Mouse, Tigger and Dibo the Gift Dragon. My hubby and I think it's cute that he enjoys watching TV at his age, but sometimes I worry if this is not good for him. Is it harmful for him to watch TV already?

Funny thing about it though is that he now has what we call "TV Time" which is after tea (right after his daily stroll on his pram). Should he be unable to watch his toons he gets fussy. But whenever he does see his cartoons he's such a bubbly baby who laughs and responds to whatever Mickey or Dibo are singing/dancing about. And yes, he prefers them on a plasma rather than a usual tv set, else he loses interest.

i dont think its a bad thing at all, he is taking an interest in colours and whats going on around him, my daughter was the same, so long as he isnt being left to sit infront infront of the TV with no other forms of stimulation then i think its just fine. if you are concerned, you could try reading him books with bright colourful pages. hope this heps!

I know so many think that tv is bad for kids, but you would not believe how much my twins have learned from watching preschool tv shows and DVD's! I do monitor what they watch, my twins are now 6 and they still prefer the "learning" shows to other shows, which I love.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, Lily did the same thing at your baby's age. She started paying more attention when the TV was on and I thought oh boy I have created a couch potato! BUT now that she's 17 months old I put on cartoons for noise during the day and she spends more time playing than she does paying attention to what is on the television, unless it's Barney she will stop everything she's doing for Barney! lol

My son Alexander(13months) loves watching Sesame street, the Wonder Pets, & YoGabbaGabba! He's watched those pretty much from birth. the tv is always on at our house. If we aren't watching a specific show it's on just for background noise.
His pediatrician says it's not a good idea for him to watch that much tv, because it will cause ADD later. I don't agree with that at all. These are educational shows and I think it's never too early to start learning fundamentals.

Hi, my daughter is 3 and she started watching baby tv at about that age and she learns so much from it. Of course, I teach her things but a lot of the time she'll say really intelligent stuff (for her age) and I'd have no idea where she got it from then a few days later I'd see it on on her catoons! Now my six month old watches them too and he loves it!! Don't get me wrong, I don't sit my children in front of the TV all day and they only ever watch cartoons though, for their age group. You'll be amazed by how much they pick up! :)
