I went to my OB yesterday and he told me that they need to do an ultrasound next week (at 36 weeks)...is that a bad sign? I am very worried!

During my pregnancy I had a total of 8 ultrasounds and shes very healthy. I was also healthy during the whole pregnancy. Toward the end when they started doing more they did them to measure the baby to make sure she was still good size and to see what kind of position she was it. Just reassuring that if I were to go into labor that she was head down and faced the right way. I know other people that had multiple ultrasounds too!

Probably just a precaution. Kinda wierd that you don't know why he wants to do it though.

No need to worry. They just checking the position of the baby. If something is not right they will let you know right away.

It should be just to make sure the fluid levels are okay in there. It gives them a good idea if they are going to have to induce or be able to let you go until your baby tells you that it's time. (I had to be induced, but not because of the fluid levels... they found that out when they did the ultrasound... he was bigger than they thought!).

Did the Doctor tell you what it was called? I can't think of the name off hand but it is completely routine now a days. They are just going to take measurements and monitor your baby to make sure that the baby is healthy and ready to come out.

don't worry. like they said its to check how big the baby is and make sure they are deciding to go in the right poistiona nd stuff and make sure they aren't going to be too big for a normal delivery. Its completly normal, so sit back and relax...watch the ultrasound excitdly..your getting to see your baby again before they are born. :) Ob docs will tell you of theyre concerns that way you won't be overly alarmed if it proves positive..so if they've said nothing..its just routine. :)

Don't worry about it. A lot of times they just want to check how big the baby is. I had ultrasounds every week at the end of my pregnancy and my little guy it totally healthy.
